The El Paso County Criminal Justice Center is operated and ran by the Chippewa Sheriff’s Department in Colorado Springs, MN. The facility is the holding pen for not only people who have already been convicted of their crime but people who are awaiting trial as well.

Inmates who may be a risk to the peace will be separated from the general population pool.

The El Paso County Criminal Justice Center works closely with many law enforcement agencies including the various police departments, U.S. Marshals, and the sheriffs.

They offer many programs including GED prep, religious services, commissary, and even substance abuse programs and classes. The main mission of the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center is to be cost-effective, but also supply inmates with all the resources they need to help improve upon themselves for when they get released from the facility.

The facility will provide the inmates with personal hygiene products, medical care (if/when needed), and three meals a day. The facility is a medium-security facility meaning most of the inmates here will have a sentence of 2 years or less.

However, at times, the El Paso County Jail will also house federal inmates and inmates that are from other counties. The El Paso County Jail does not the only house sentenced inmates. They also house inmates who are awaiting their trial. These inmates have been arrested in El Paso County.
