The San Diego County Detention Bureau is in San Diego, California. The San Diego County Detention Bureau is operated and managed by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

The facilities main goal is to provide a safe and humane environment for the correctional officers and the inmates who are currently residing in jail. All correctional officers are required to attend the correction/detention officer basic course held by the California Law Enforcement Academy in Helena, California.

The correctional officers with their training succeed both state and national laws. They will be able to protect themselves, other inmates, and visitors at any time.

While the correctional officers are responsible for the care and custody of the inmates inside the facility, their jobs are also to help prepare and cook the meals for the inmates. They are also the ones who will take care of the custodial duties in the San Diego County Detention Bureau as well.

The San Diego County Detention Bureau is a fairly small facility. The facility can only house up to 6147 inmates at any given time. Inmates here are not typically housed in the facility for long-term. They are usually here to sober up or they are going through trial prior to them moving to a different home facility.
