The Los Angeles North County Jail was built back in 1973. The facility is a maximum-security jail. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for maintaining and operating the Los Angeles North County Jail.
The Los Angeles North County Jail can house up to 440 inmates at any given time. This estimate is for the general inmate population. The facility has an intake area. In this area, inmates will be processed through the facility. The intake area consists of holding cells and observation cells. This area can hold up to another 156 inmates at any given time.
In March of 1989, the facility built an Annex. The Annex is a direct supervision facility. The Annex can currently hold up to another 487 inmates.
Inmates in the Los Angeles North County Jail will have access to medical care. Medical care is available for inmates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All medical staff is licensed. They will also have a few single cells for inmates who need to stay overnight for further treatment.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office will arrest around 25,000 people every year. Not all of these people will be booked and processed through the Los Angeles North County Jail.
