The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for keeping and maintaining the Indio Juvenile Hall. In addition to taking in their own residents, the facility also houses inmates wanted from other states and in other counties throughout the state of California as well as take in inmates from the U.S. Marshall’s as well.
The Riverside County Jail offers inmates programs, such as work release, basic life skills, substance abuse (including AA and NA meetings), a GED program, and Chaplain services.
It currently houses a maximum capacity of 82 inmates who are held in nine connecting housing units, plus the Receiving and Discharge/Transport unit.
Inmates in the facility will also have the chance to get medical treatment when necessary.
They want to ensure that inmates safety and health come first along with the staff’s safety as well. Indio Juvenile Hall wants to provide a safe and humane environment for both the staff members and the inmates. The staff members will do their rounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure there are no issues with inmates and to ensure that no inmate can escape from the facility.
All staff that is employed at the Indio Juvenile Hall must undergo the required state of California Training Board Certified 200 Hour Academy. The Indio Juvenile Hall is operated and managed by Darren Ferrell, the Jail Administrator. Alongside Darren Ferrell, they have a highly trained staff that helps with the day to day business operations.
