The Pima County Juvenile Detention Center is located in Tuscon, Arizona. The Stearns County Jail is operated and managed by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
If an inmate is sentenced to a sentence for more than two years, they will be transferred to state prison in Arizona. Inmates who are serving out their sentence will have a sentence of two years or less. Majority of the inmates in the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center are inmates currently waiting for their trial to start, going through their trial, or inmates waiting to be sentenced. There are a handful of inmates in the facility that are serving out their sentence.
The facility is one of the areas that help keep the community safe with the rehabilitation of inmates prior to them going back into the community.
The facility is over 156,000 square feet. The detention center can hold up to 600 inmates comfortably.
Inmates are released when they post bail, placed under probation, or on their own recognizance. The Pima County Juvenile Detention Center receives new inmates to the jail daily. While new inmates are coming in, there are also inmates leaving as well.
All violent and out of control inmates will be separated from the general population inmates to keep the peace inside the facility at all times.
