The Yakutat Community Jail is one of the direct supervision facility. A direct supervision jail mainly focuses on managing the inmate’s behavior to provide a secure and humane environment for staff, visitors, and inmates. The staff will interact with the inmates in their housing units, while also keeping an eye on them to pinpoint issues before they get too big.
The Yakutat Community Jail is home to inmates who are waiting for their trial to start, going through their trial, and inmates who are waiting to be sentenced. Most of the inmates that have been sentenced will carry a sentence of two years and less. However, there are a handful of inmates who have already been sentenced as well.
