The Sand Point Community Jail is nestled in Sand Point, Alaska. The Aleutians East Borough County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency involved in the Sand Point Community Jail day to day operations.
Every day inmates will get three nutritious meals, have the opportunity to use the telephone, shower, and purchase items from the facilities commissary. They will be giving clean bed linens and clothes twice a week.
The facility also houses inmates who are currently going through the judicial system as well. The jail is not only home to those who have already been convicted of their crimes. The jail also includes a release center and an intake center.
Shortly after they opened their doors, they started to expand by adding more housing units, which brought their total from 30 inmates up to 102 inmates.
The Alaska Jailer has many constitutional duties are mentioned in Chapters 71.00 and 446.00 of the Alaska Statutes. All County Jailers in Alaska are known as Sworn State Peace Officers.
