The Mat-Su Youth Facility is operated and managed by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough County Sheriff’s Department.
The main mission of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough County Jail is to rehabilitate the inmates prior to releasing them back into the communities.
If an inmate has posted bail/bond or was not convicted of their crime, they will be released during a certain time during the day. The Mat-Su Youth Facility accepts new inmates daily. They also release inmates daily as well.
The Detention Center comes equipped with a housing area, booking area, laundry facility, medical ward, visiting areas, courtroom, and support areas.
The dayroom is heavily monitored by the correctional staff. The dayroom also allows the inmates to interact with one another as well. The facility also includes a dayroom. In the dayroom, they have a telephone and telephones where they can watch movies and television shows along with calling their loved ones back home.
All inmates are required to follow all rules set forth by the correctional officers.
You will find a handful of inmates are awaiting their trial or sentencing. Most of the inmates in the Mat-Su Youth Facility have already been sentenced. However, not all inmates in the facility have received their sentence.
