The Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for keeping and maintaining the Klawock Community Jail. In addition to taking in their own residents, the facility also houses inmates wanted from other states and in other counties throughout the state of Alaska as well as take in inmates from the U.S. Marshall’s as well.

The Klawock Community Jail can hold up to 200 inmates at any given time. The facility is completely self-sufficient when it comes to day to day operations such as food service, laundry, and housing.
Klawock Community Jail wants to provide a safe and humane environment for both the staff members and the inmates. They want to ensure that inmates safety and health come first along with the staff’s safety as well. The staff members will do their rounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensure there are no issues with inmates and to ensure that no inmate can escape from the facility.
The Klawock Community Jail also offers many programs for its inmates. These programs are to help inmates rehabilitate themselves to productive members of society. These programs include but not limited to:

- GED Prep
- Religious Programs
