The Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility is an all-security facility that opened their doors back in 1988. The facility can hold up to 536 inmates at any given time. The facility costs the county nearly $14.95 million.

The Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility was designed by the Voorhis and Associates, Inc., Sheriff Brad Leach, Criminal Justice Consultants, and others residing in the Kenai Peninsula Borough County. Many of these scenarios past scenarios were developed in the pre-architectural program.

The Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility offers its inmates a variety of programs and services they can take advantage of while they are in the facility. These services and programs are in place to help inmates to not re-offend in the future.  These services and programs include, but not limited to the following:

• Footsteps Program For Men and Women

As previously mentioned, the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility houses inmates from all security-levels. The facility also houses work release inmates as well. The work release house dormitory is separated from the main jail, but it also connected to the facility.

The facility overall takes the safety of its employees and inmates alike.
