The Craig Jail Facility is in Craig, Alaska. The Craig Jail Facility is operated and managed by the Prince Of Wales Island-outer Ketchikan County Sheriff’s Office.
This facility has maintained accreditation from the Corrections Bureau by the American Correctional Association. Presently, they are one of only two facilities in the State of Alaska to hold this accreditation.
They are also the ones who will take care of the custodial duties in the Craig Jail Facility as well. While the correctional officers are responsible for the care and custody of the inmates inside the facility, their jobs are also to help prepare and cook the meals for the inmates.
The taxpayers in Prince Of Wales Island-outer Ketchikan County has spent countless amounts of money to help with the efficient management system they have in place. The LaSalle Corrections took over the responsibility of the jail back in 2007. Even though constitutionally the jail is the responsibility of the Prince Of Wales Island-outer Ketchikan County Sheriff’s Office, but the day to day operations as mentioned above is managed by the LaSalle Corrections.
In the facility, the commissary is also referred to as the canteen. In the Craig Jail Facility, the commissary is contracted out to the LoneStar Commissary. Inmates will only be able to make purchases up to $200 each week.
