The facility is situated in Huntsville, Alabama. The Madison County Juvenile Detention Center is a medium-security jail. They currently house both male and female adult inmates. They do not house juveniles.
The Madison County Juvenile Detention Center accepts inmates from surrounding municipalities and towns. They accept many inmates from the Huntsville Police Department since they currently do NOT have their own long-term lock-up area for inmates.
All of the labor going into the renovations will be conducted by inmates serving time in the facility to help save tax dollars. in 2019, the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center is going under some small renovations, such as getting a new outside look.
The Madison County Juvenile Detention Center works closely with many other law enforcement agencies such as the sheriff’s department, police departments, US Marshals and the like. There are inmates that came from surrounding counties or they are federal inmates who will be appearing in court in this area. Not all inmates in the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center are residents of the Madison County area.
These programs are here to ensure they will not re-offend. The facility offers its inmates a wide variety of programs to help prepare themselves for life on the outside.
