The Tarrant County Cold Springs Facility is licensed as a Class III Jail. The facility can hold up to 384 inmates at any given time. The Tarrant County Cold Springs Facility is operated under the Texas Department of Corrections as a secure detention center. The facility houses both pre-trial and sentenced inmates.

The Tarrant County Cold Springs Facility first opened back in 1982. The second floor of the facility is the Law Enforcement Addition, which also had the Sheriff’s Office and alongside the 911 Dispatch Center.

In 2017, the facility saw yet another new addition. This new addition was to the courthouse and the detention center. This addition consists of another 19 detention beds added, a bigger intake section, office space for the sheriff’s office and jail, and a video visitation area.

The Jail Administrator has the job of supervising the operation of the facility. The Jail Administrator has the help of the Jail Programmer, eleven full-time correctional staff, and four Sergeants.

The Tarrant County Cold Springs Facility offers its inmates a wide variety of programs and services. These programs and services include the following:

• Recreational Activities
• Religious Guidance

The Tarrant County Cold Springs Facility houses pre-trial, sentenced, work release, and STS inmates. STS is a program that is court ordered. This is where inmates can venture off in the community to work on a variety of service projects. The facility only houses adult male and adult female inmates.
