The Chittenden County Jail is nestled in Burlington, Vermont. The Chittenden County Sheriff’s Office Is the law enforcement agency responsible for the day to day operation of the Chittenden County Jail.

The Chittenden County Jail is an all security detention center meaning they can house inmates of every security level. This facility will house adult male and adult female inmates. This facility does not house any juveniles. Juveniles are housed in a different facility in the county.

The housing units in the Chittenden County Jail are known as pods. These pods consist of a few separated rooms that are connected to a large room or also known as the common area. The pods will have correctional officers that work within these areas 24 hours a day. The separated rooms will house one or more inmates at a time. One pod can house up to 80 inmates.

The Chittenden County Jail will supply all basic hygiene products, clothing, and bedding to inmates. There will be inmates will be responsible for washing their undergarments, but all uniforms and bedding will be washed by the facility, All inmates within the facility will be required to shower at least twice a week. They will need to ask a staff member for a razor to shave.
