The Windham County Sheriff’s Office is the agency responsible for keeping and maintaining the Windham County Jail. In addition to taking in their own residents, the facility also houses inmates wanted from other states and in other counties throughout the state of Connecticut as well as take in inmates from the U.S. Marshall’s as well.
In addition to incarcerating offenders from all jurisdictions within Windham County, the Windham County Jail also holds fugitives wanted in other states, in other Connecticut counties as well as prisoners from the U.S. Marshall’s office.
The Windham County Jail will provide their inmates with hygiene products, clothing, food, and indoor recreational facilities. Any other item an inmate may need or want, they will need to purchase through the commissary. The commissary is where inmates can purchase other items that are not necessary to their day to day life that the jail provides.
The Windham County Jail also offers many programs for its inmates. These programs are to help inmates rehabilitate themselves to productive members of society. These programs include but not limited to:

- Substance Abuse Groups
- Religious Programs
Inmates in the facility will also have the chance to get medical treatment when necessary. They will be seen by a licensed physician.
