The Montrose County Jail & Detention Center is operated and managed by the Montrose County Sheriff’s Department.

The Montrose County Jail & Detention Center main mission is keeping the peace between the county, staff members, and inmates. The sheriff’s department is the agency accountable when it comes to jail since they are elected official. They are the agency that patrols the entire county keeping the peace and bringing in individuals who are breaking the law.

While the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the jail, their job does not stop there. They also are a part of delivering civil papers, providing safety and security to the courthouse, and following the execution of court papers.

The Montrose County Jail & Detention Center provides its inmates three meals a day and medical care when needed. All inmates when they check in will receive the necessary items they need to get accustomed to jail life. They will get their uniforms, blanket, towel, bed sheets,  and hygiene products.

Medical care is available when needed. If the medical staff at the facility cannot handle it, the inmate will be transferred to the local hospital with correctional officers.

Inmates will be in general population unless they are at risk of causing violence. They will then be moved out of gen population to keep the peace of the facility.
