The Perry County Correctional Center is a medium-security facility. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is the law enforcement agency responsible for the day to day operation of the Perry County Correctional Center. Mike Cleveland, head Sheriff is the officer in charge of overseeing all operations. Cleveland was elected back in July of 2000 and sworn into office in January 2001.

The facility only houses adult male and adult female inmates. The facility does not house any juvenile inmates. The juvenile inmates are housed in a separate facility somewhere else in the county.

Majority of the inmates in the Perry County Correctional Center are inmates currently waiting for their trial to start, going through their trial, or inmates waiting to be sentenced. There are a handful of inmates in the facility that are serving out their sentence. Inmates who are serving out their sentence will have a sentence of two years or less. If an inmate is sentenced to a sentence for more than two years, they will be transferred to state prison in Georiga.
